Today marks Day 16 of my 30-day journey to build a dog accessory business from scratch — and let’s be honest, content creation is no small task. But it’s powerful. Today was all about creating Reels and YouTube Shorts to help bring my brand to life on social media.
As a small business, I don’t have a huge marketing budget — but I do have a phone, my workspace, and a story to tell. That’s more than enough.
🎥 Why Reels & Shorts Matter
Short-form video is one of the best ways to reach new customers right now. It’s fast, visual, and perfect for showcasing handmade products like my NFC dog tags and paracord collars. When people can see the work behind the product, it builds trust — and that’s everything.
Today I filmed:
Behind-the-scenes of how I make my dog tags
A quick product highlight using trending audio
A time-lapse of my workspace while I prepped an order
🐾 My Go-To Tips for Short-Form Video:
Start strong – The first 2 seconds should hook your viewer (think movement, text, or a question).
Show the product early – Don’t wait until the end!
Keep it under 30 seconds – Short and sweet always wins.
Use trending audio – But make sure it fits your vibe.
Don’t overthink it – Progress over perfection.
I batch-filmed three short videos in one afternoon, edited them on my phone using CapCut, and scheduled them across Instagram and YouTube. Consistency doesn’t mean posting every day — it means showing up with intention.
These videos don’t just show my products — they show my process, my personality, and my passion for pets. And that’s what builds community.
